PD
PD[ind,expr]
returns the partial derivative(s) of the expression expr.
PD[{ind1, ind2, …}, expr]
takes consecutive partial derivatives of an expression, with ind1 representing the outmost (left-most) derivative.
Details and Options
- When PD is applied to a gauge singlet it reduces to CD, thus indicating that the resulting expression is still gauge covariant.
- Many Matchete functions assumes that the input is manifestly gauge co- or invariant, and will fail if the input contains partial derivatives.
- PD automatically distributes over sums and applies the product rule.

On a charged field, such as a colored fermion,
the PD returns a partial derivative
The indices of the partial derivative is wrapped with a PartialDev head (unwrapped indices are covariant derivatives).
Partial derivatives on neutral fields are recognized as covariant
